Is it better ...

Back in the 1960’s, a small firm in Hong Kong – the Great Wall Plastics Factory – created a dirt-cheap 120 camera called the “Diana.” Crafted entirely of plastic, each camera cost about a dollar. As a mainstream product, the Diana was pretty much a failure – and was discontinued in the 1970’s. But like any superstar cut down in their prime, the Diana’s posthumous appeal skyrocketed. As a cult artistic tool of avant-garde and lo-fi photographers, it was a rousing success! They loved its soft & dreamy images, super-saturated colors, unpredictable blurring, and random contrast. Diana shots are raw & gritty, with a character all their own. They simply cannot be duplicated by any other camera on Earth! In short order, the Diana rose to prominence as one of the most treasured and sought-after cult analog cameras from the late 70’s onward.

We live in a world where old is terribly expensive, to an extent that only a few can afford this kind of treat.
Technology is advancing by leaps and bounds and there still people paying exceedingly amounts of money for old school cameras like the Diana, which as you read above "Crafted entirely of plastic, each camera cost about a dollar"

Is it worth it? Does it make sense? Is it cool, or not? Is it a stupid idea?
Why do I have so many questions?

Little Joy

Little Joy

Today on music, more than music. Little Joy is one of those bands that makes you swing from one side to another. Especially "How to hang a Warhol"(my personal favourite).

The songs are sweet and simple, the melodies are joyful and mellow.
This is one of those CD's you'll never regret buying and you won't stop listening to it!

A bit of bio:

Little Joy is a Brazilian/American rock band formed in 2007 by Los Hermanos singer/guitarist Rodrigo Amarante, The Strokes drummerFabrizio Moretti and Binki Shapiro. Amarante and Moretti met in 2006, at a festival in Lisbon where both their bands were performing, and the idea came up to start a new musical project unrelated to their respective bands. In 2007, with Los Hermanos on hiatus "for an undetermined amount of time", Amarante travelled to Los Angeles to collaborate with Devendra Banhart on his Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon album. He and Moretti met during recording breaks and talked about "anything but music." Through mutual acquaintances, they met multi-instrumentalist Binki Shapiro, who encouraged the pair to work on a few songs Moretti had begun writing. The band then moved into a house in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles to write more original music and record some demos. The band was christened "Little Joy" after a cocktail lounge not far from their house. Their eponymous debut album was recorded with the help of producer Noah Georgeson and engineer Beau Raymond, whom Amarante met during his sessions with Devendra Banhart. It was released by Rough Trade Records on November 4, 2008, and was hailed by Pitchfork Media as "one of the sweetest, most listenable, consistently enjoyable records of the season." Their debut album was given four stars by Rolling Stone magazine and Nick Hornby voted it his favourite album of 2008.

Ad Campaign: Louis Vuitton A/W 2010-2011

This is one of my all time favourites campaign. Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH)'s brand portfolio is a catalogue of the finest things money can buy. It is the world's premier luxury goods company, controlling more than 50 exclusive brand names including Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Moet & Chandon, TAG Heuer and Guerlain. These have been accumulated over the years by LVMH's chairman, Bernard Arnault, earning him the title of France's richest man, as well as arguably the world's most influential arbiter of good taste. One of Arnault's few failures was the two-year battle to add ultra-chic Gucci to his collection. LVMH eventually admitted defeat in 2000, but instead negotiated a handsome payout for its interest. Advertising Age estimated global measured advertising expenditure of $584m in 2007, making LVMH the world's #61 advertiser.

LVMH owns approximately 42 brands:

Now on the latests campaign. The A/W 2010-2011 collection.
Purely inspired in LV's style and with hints of the 50's.
The ambiance is amazing, the hairdos & makeup even more. Loving everything about it.
My personal favourite, the first one ♥
Enjoy!

Update

First: ELLE November issue is OUT! Alexa Chung on the cover. + Clinique gift.

Second: First week of uni is almost over. I can definitely feel the pressure and the work is piling up. Only 8 weeks to go and the first term will be over. Don't expect me to comment positively on that. Although the projects are amazing, there's tons and tons to do.

As part of a project, today I'm off to an exhibition in Tate Britain about Eadweard Muybridge.
I'm not excited but it might as well be good.
