Sunday Night: BE STUPID

Second ad campaign today, actually I'm not going to lie, I've been watching ads all day long, stopped to go to Tesco and came back to watch some more.

A couple of months ago I was introduced to the new DIESEL:BE STUPID campaign.
I'm not a personal fan of this brand, however, I think that this is the beginning of a new DIESEL. It's all the same but in a completely different way. (?)
Today I came across it again, I couldn't resist the temptation to share my thoughts about it.

Loved the copywriting, it's powerful and fresh. The posters, some of them are really good, others not that much... The colours are amazing! I love the combinations.

From: http://www.ibelieveinadv.com/page/32/

Like balloons, we are filled with hopes and dreams
But. Over time a single sentence creeps into our lives

Dont be stupid.

Its the crusher of possibility.
Its the worlds greatest deflator.

The world is full of smart people.
Doing all kind of smart things…
Thats smart.

Well,
were with stupid.

Stupid is the relentless pursuit of a regret free life.
Smart may have the brains…
but stupid has the balls.

The smart might recognize
things for how they are.
The stupid see things for how they could be.

Smart critiques.
Stupid creates.

The fact is
if we didnt have stupid thoughts
wed have no interesting thoughts at all

Smart may have the plans…
but stupid has the stories.

Smart may have the authority
but stupid has one hell of a hangover

Its not smart to take risks…
Its stupid.

To be stupid
is to be brave

The stupid isnt afraid to fail.
The stupid know there are worse things than failure…
like not even trying.

Smart had one good idea,
and that idea was stupid.

You cant outsmart stupid.
So dont even try.

Remember
only stupid can be truly
brilliant

So,
BE STUPID

Stuff every woman should know...

Calling all women! I was walking around Spitalfields Market the other day when I came across a lovely shop that sold used books. While browsing, a small, baby blue book with the title 'Stuff every woman should know' instantly grabbed my attention. Author Alanna Kalb combines tips on "girl stuff" (how to stop a run in your stockings) with more up-to-date advice (how to ask for a raise), everything from 'How to give a Passionate, Mind-Blowing, Knock-His-Socks-Off Kiss' to 'Good Responses To Bad Pick-up Lines' (My favorite - Him: "How do you like your eggs in the morning?" You: "Unfertilized")
Lastly, she ends with a list of 'stuff you should know that i can't tell you'. Any way I can get a book for those too?

About a fashion campaign

Like someone I know used to say, "It's all about the composition, how everything's blends together until it becomes a whole. Colours, shapes, lights and objects. The place has to be powerful enough. And the clothes, oh the clothes..."
Nowadays everything's an industry. Even feeling beautiful is an industry. Nonetheless, it's become an art too.

Before I went back to Argentina last April, I felt really excited for going back again, however, I was confused, as it was 3 years since the last time I went. A friend of mine says, "as long as you don't forget your roots..."
Agree, but the whole thing is much more complicated than trying not to forget "my roots."

I was excited. We agreed with my family that I was going to visit all the typical places in Buenos Aires, because I needed to feel that connection between the city and me again. But obviously it wasn't the same. At first I preferred to stay with my old memories.

Then I fell in love. I fell in love with my hometown for the first time. I realised that even though I wasn't going to live there again there was finally something between the city and me that I'll never forget.
I walked in the streets, had coffees in those amazing cafes listening and watching people dance tango. I became obsessed with my own culture. And I was ashamed for not feeling that way before.

I did in two weeks what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Everything was breathtaking, most of the time I was focusing on so many things that I forgot to breath.

There was one thing though, which I really loved. The smells. If you lived in different places, you'll notice that smells are amazingly different. And that's a thing you can't transmit through a photograph.

All of this was to introduce one of my latest favourite fashion campaigns. Again Chanel and Mr. Lagerfeld dazzle us with really powerful ads. The ads feature models Claudia Schiffer, Freja Beha Erichsen and Baptiste Giabiconi and it was shot in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A rather cheesy weekend

Heya! This is Juliet lying on her bed, regretting how much cheesecake she ate this afternoon.
I've been having glasses of water for like two hours now and I'm still feeling sick...
I personally DO NOT recommend you to put a lot of the cheese mixture in the cake, in fact, whatever the recipe says, you just take 50 g off of creams and cheese. It will be so much healthier (huh?) and less filling!
We took the recipe from a book Carol found in Urban Outfitters. I don't remember the name but it's all about chocolate and it's £7-8 . I'll post the name for you afterwards.

Anyway, talking about how great the weather in London is. AMAZING! Spent some hours with the girls in Hyde Park and chilled a bit. (photo 1)

All in all, a great day with the girls.

PS1: I might rethink the fact of going to another Vintage Clothes Sale: that was a CHAOS!

Loads of cheesy little kisses

Fun article I found on Yahoo!

A few ways to stretch out a rubber band you might not have guessed

At a dinner party this weekend, my host was wrestling with a jar of honey in the kitchen, unable to unscrew the lid. Just as she was about to fetch her boyfriend to have him finish the job, I asked her if she had a rubber band. “What for?” she asked, having never heard of the following trick:
  1. For stubborn tops, wrap a rubber band around the perimeter of the the lid a couple times before attempting to open it—the band acts as a grip and makes it about a thousand times easier to undo.
  2. Paint can marker. If you’re partially finished with a can of paint, wrap a rubber band around its exterior at the same level as the paint that’s inside the can so you can tell at a glance how much you have left.
  3. Pencil eraser. Fold a rubber band a few times to rub off pencil doodles.
  4. To keep soap output in check. Loop a rubber band around the neck of the pump on a liquid soap dispenser to control how much soap comes out with each use.
  5. Bookmarks. Just wrap a band around the page you’ve just finished reading and the cover of the book. You won’t have to worry about losing your place, nor do you have to bend the pages.
  6. Bottle gripper. To keep shampoos, conditioners, etc from slipping from your hands in the shower, wrap rubber bands around the middles to make them easier to grip.
  7. Keep a sliced apple fresh. Supposedly, after you slice an apple into wedges, if you reassemble the wedges so the apple looks intact again and wrap a (clean!) band around it, it slows down the browning process—a good thing to keep in mind for brown bag lunches.
Pretty cool, huh?

Little bit about C

Welcome guys and gals, I'm Carol, I'm 19 and also a fellow advertising student based in London. (Greatest city in the world, hands down.) A little bit about yours truly... I Love contemporary art, jazz, 80's rock n' roll, crisp winter mornings, the smell of freshly grounded coffee, french cafes, good food, inspiring documentaries, really old arabic movies, unusual places, innovative photography and new cultures. I love to travel the world. I love the thrill of a new ambiance, I love the simple things in life. I have a passion for creativity and learning new things. I stutter when I'm shy. I get obsessed about something for a while and then forget about it unless it meant something significant. I would always give you the impression that you know me, but you know absolutely nothing.

Today's Monday

* click on the photo to enlarge

Hi everyone!

First, There's been no activity around here since my first post, sooo I though, let's post something cool.

Yes! :) (an old) Mini Cooper

And secondly, I need people to fill this survey for me. It's about Animal Adoption from shelters and it won't take long, just a couple of minutes and I would be very glad and happy if you do it! Thanks

Anyway, everything's been cool, couple of sad days (rainy ones) but that's it.
I hope the other members of the blog post something soon.

Today's not Sunday

Hi, I'm Juliet and I'm a Sunday Girl, in fact, I realised I was one few days ago.

When I first thought about it, it was a bit weird, but yeah... how many things in this world are weirder than this? LOADS!

Who am I? I'm a girl, born on a Friday in Buenos Aires and I'm not 21.
Where am I now? in London, UK. The most amazing city you'll ever visit / live in (true story)
When? Well, I'm new to London, arrived in July 2009
Why? There are half a million answers to this one, but let's say: Life is so unpredictable that, right now, I don't mind trusting her.
What am I doing? I'm an advertising student, a recycled one (advertising was never in my plan A, nor B)

Why am I a Sunday Girl then? I think I feel like being that way.
